We take your privacy seriously. This page explains what data we collect, how we use it, and what rights you have.

The site and newsletter service are hosted in the EU, in accordance with GDPR. You can request deletion of your data at any time.

When you access the website nodeponds-nerdletter, the browser used on your device automatically sends information to the server of our website. This information is temporarily stored in a so-called log file. The following information is collected without your intervention and stored until automated deletion:

Date and time of access
Name and URL of the retrieved file
Website from which access is made (referrer URL)
Browser used, and if applicable, the operating system of your computer, as well as the name of your access provider
Your Internet Protocol (IP) address

The mentioned data is processed by us for the following purposes:

Ensuring a smooth connection to the website
Ensuring comfortable use of our website
Evaluation of system security and stability, as well as
Statistical analysis to improve the website and the operation of the web server

1. Who We Are

This website and newsletter are run by Martin Wisniowski aka Nodepond.
I am based in Cologne, Germany, and operate under EU data protection laws (GDPR).

2. What Data We Collect

We only collect what we need to send you the newsletter:

Email address (when you subscribe)
Sometimes location is gathered.
We also collect usage data of how you use the newsletter, that means opening rates and what links were clicked - assigned to the email-addess.
Users can optionally add their names in their account.

3. How We Collect It

You provide your email address through a sign-up form on the website.
We use a double opt-in system — this means:

You enter your email
You confirm your subscription via a link in your inbox
This ensures nobody can subscribe you without your permission.

4. Why We Collect It

We use your email address only to send you the daily newsletter and to see, where the interest of the readership are.

That’s it.

We don’t use your data for advertising, profiling, or sharing with third parties.

5. Where Your Data Is Stored

We store email addresses securely using an self-hosted server in Germany.

The website itself is hosted in the EU (Germany), ensuring that all data is stored within Europe.

E-Mail delivery itself is done via the Service Mailgun, with a Server, also hosted in the EU. Look at Mailgun's Privacy Policy.

6. How Long We Keep It

We keep your email address for as long as you’re subscribed.
If you unsubscribe, your address is deleted from our active mailing list. In a time-range of about 2-8 weeks, I completely delete unsubscribed emails.

You can also request full deletion at any time (see below).

You have the right to:

Access your data
Correct your data
Delete your data ("right to be forgotten")
Withdraw your consent at any time
Lodge a complaint with a data protection authority

8. Cookies & Tracking

We do use tracking cookies or pixel tracking in emails.

We also do not run ads or collect analytics beyond anonymous visit stats.

9. Changes to This Policy

If we update this policy, I'll announce it on the website or in the newsletter.
